Woman accused of selling cemetery vases for scrap

KOKOMO – A Kokomo woman has been accused of trying to sell more than 100 bronze vases stolen from two cemeteries.

The Kokomo Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/M9GtZe) that 33-year-old Amanda Edwards was charged with four felony counts of receiving stolen property. Edwards bonded out of jail Wednesday after posting $500 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

In April, Kokomo police reported 152 bronze memorial vases, valued at $53,200, were stolen over a period of time from Sunset Memory Garden and Kokomo Memorial Park. A probable cause affidavit states witnesses said they saw Edwards bring a number of vases in to Hunt Salvage & Coal Yards to sell on several occasions.

Police said Edwards told them she found the vases. She could not be reached for comment because there was no telephone listing for her.
