A pool of mosquitoes sampled in Bluffton has tested positive for the West Nile virus, the Wells County Health Department has announced.
The positive test came from a sample near Forest Glen Court, the health department said in a statement.
It encouraged residents to avoid outdoor activities from dusk until dawn, when mosquitoes are most active. If you are going to be outdoors, it said, wear long sleeves and pants, and be sure to use an insect repellent.
Bluffton Mayor Ted Ellis said his community would spray for mosquitoes, and larvaecide would be deposited in standing pools of water suspected of being breeding sites.
