Editor's Note: At first I thought maybe it was some REALLY freaky storm coming up from the west, but then I looked at the time and noticed that it had to be the sunset coming through the clouds after Saturday's thunderstorm. I realized Swikar would still be at the paper, so I called him and asked him to poke his head outside and see what he could get.

Because of the way our building is organized, when a photographer is working on their photos, they are almost completely blocked off from the outside world. Even if he looked at the windows in the newsroom, they all face east, so at best he would notice the sunset reflecting off of windows downtown, so he wouldn't realize how it looked, really.

Also, sunsets are actually kind of hard to shoot because you have to get a combination of a fairly clear view, but also have something in the foreground to give the image depth and perspective.

I called him back after about an hour because I was curious and he told me that, not only did he get a pretty cool photo, Jim Touvell had managed to get it into the paper on short notice. I was pretty happy when I saw the results on the front page the next morning.
