Convicted rapist faces 15 charges in brutal attack

GREENWOOD – A convicted rapist who was released this year after serving less than half his sentence has been charged with sexually assaulting a Greenwood woman as her 1-year-old daughter slept nearby.

Johnson County Prosecutor Brad Cooper on Monday charged 33-year-old Shawn L. Corbally of Indianapolis with 15 felonies in connection with the July 29 attack. The charges include four counts of rape and five counts of criminal deviate sexual conduct.

Corbally is being held without bond in the Johnson County Jail. No court appearance has been scheduled. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.

Corbally was released in February after serving less than 12 years of a 25-year sentence for a 2000 rape conviction. Department of Correction officials say his sentence was reduced due to good behavior, counseling and educational achievements.
