Komets general manager David Franke said the window to try and re-sign Playoff MVP Mike Vaskivuo, who has already agreed to play in France, is almost certainly closed.
The Komets had hoped to get Vaskivuo a two-way contract between the American Hockey League and ECHL to dissuade him from going overseas, but those contracts are hard to obtain because the NHL labor impass could leave the AHL full of players.
Meanwhile, Franke said the Komets remain in negotiations with defenseman Frankie DeAngelis and forward Stephon Thorne.
The Komets are also confident that they will get goalie Kenny Reiter, who is on a two-way contact with Bridgeport of the AHL. He wouldn't provide details, though.
