The IPFW women's soccer team was picked to finish fifth in the Summit League, according to a preseason poll of the nine league coaches.

The fifth-place prediction is the best for the Mastodons since joining the conference in 2007.

The last two seasons IPFW was picked seventh and finished fifth.

The Mastodons return six starters, including single-season assist record-holder Tylar Allison and Danielle Bishop, who had three goals.

The Mastodons begin the season Aug. 17 at home against St. Joseph's College.

Defending Summit League tournament champion Oakland was picked first, while regular-season champion South Dakota State was selected second.
