U-Haul truck yields 570 pounds of marijuana

CINCINNATI – Two men in southwest Ohio are facing felony drug charges after authorities found bundles of marijuana worth $2.2 million in their U-Haul truck.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped 25-year-old Quincy D. Showes and 22-year-old Darius J. Jackson as they drove a U-Haul box truck Wednesday night in Cincinnati.

Authorities said troopers initially stopped the pair for a driving lanes violation, but called in a drug-sniffing canine once they became suspicious of criminal activity. They seized 32 bundles of marijuana weighing about 570 pounds on the floor in the rear cargo area.

Showes and Jackson have been charged with trafficking and possession of marijuana, both second-degree felonies.

The pair is jailed in the Hamilton County Justice Center. Attorneys representing them did not immediately return messages left Thursday.
