The first TinCaps run of the night came on a hit and run. The next three came on a hit and jog.
Lee Orr's three-run homer in the fourth inning topped a four-run frame as the TinCaps own a 4-1 lead over West Michigan on Friday at Parkview Field.
Jace Peterson led off the inning with an infield single, then reached second safely when West Michigan second baseman Brandon Loy booted a potential double-play grounder. With Peterson on second, the TinCaps pulled off a great hit-and-run, as Yeison Asencio lined a single into left field to send in Peterson.
With Mike Gallic, whose grounder was muffed, and Asencio on board, Orr hammered a 2-0 pitch deep over the left field wall for the four-run inning.
To compound the Whitecaps' problems, the TinCaps scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Gallic reached on a walk and Asencio singled with no outs. After West Michigan coaxed two outs, Austin Hedges hit a sharp ground ball that went through the legs of shortstop Eugenio Suarez.
