It's "Jimmy Buffett Night" for tonight's TinCaps-West Michigan game, which begins at 7:05 p.m., but it's difficult to get into the promotion since nearly everyone in attendance is huddled up in a jacket and not in a Hawaiian shirt.
Right-handed pitcher James Needy (5-1, 1.73 ERA) gets the start tonight for the TinCaps (27-19, 58-58), while left-hander Kyle Ryan (6-6, 3.97) gets the start for West Michigan (23-23, 59-57).
This will be the first start of the season for Needy, who is filling in for Cody Hebner, who has been indefinitely suspended for a violation of team rules. Needy's last start was Sept. 2, 2011, when he was a member of the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League.
Needy's longest stint on the mound this season was his last, when he worked 4 1/3 innings on Aug. 4 in the completion of a suspended game. He allowed two earned runs and got the win in the TinCaps' 7-2 victory over Bowling Green.
