Apartment fire traced to stove

A stove left on Thursday afternoon started a blaze that damaged an apartment building in southeast Fort Wayne, the fire department said.

About 12:15 p.m., fire crews were called to 5804 Turtle Creek Drive, near Hessen Cassel and East Paulding roads.

Smoke was coming from the front of the eight-unit building, and firefighters found flames in a kitchen of an apartment.

Two adults had already evacuated the apartment. No injuries were reported, the fire department said.

The fire caused moderate damage and was brought under control in 14 minutes, officials said.
