Fort Wayne officer injured in crash

A Fort Wayne police officer responding to an emergency call was injured in a crash Wednesday afternoon at Coliseum Boulevard and Crescent Avenue, city police said.

About 4 p.m., the officer was driving south on Crescent in her squad car with the lights and sirens activated, said officer Jason Anthony, a police spokesman.

She stopped at Coliseum and then went into the intersection where an eastbound van hit the squad car's passenger side, Anthony said.

The officer was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. She was in stable condition. The van driver was not injured, Anthony said.

The names of the officer and van driver were not released.
