Candidate forum tonight at library

Eight candidates in the Nov. 6 election plan to appear today at a forum at the Allen County Public Library.

The forum will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Meeting Room A. The sponsor is Johnny Appleseed Aktion Club, which provides services to people with disabilities and is part of Kiwanis International.

The club’s Jeffery Scherer said Tuesday in an email that each candidate will be given three to five minutes to speak, and then they will take questions from the audience.

Scheduled to take part are Kevin Boyd, the Democratic candidate for Congress in Indiana’s 3rd District; Rep. Phil GiaQuinta, D-Fort Wayne, who seeks re-election in state House District 80; Martin Carbaugh, the Republican candidate in state House District 81; Charles “Tom” Keen, the Democratic candidate in state Senate District 16; Allen County Commissioner Nelson Peters, who seeks re-election in District 1; and Democrats Gina Burgess, Dennis Sprunger and Sharon Tucker, who seek at large seats on the Allen County Council.
