2 teens charged in copper theft try

Two teens are accused of trying to steal more than $5,000 worth of copper from an Indiana Michigan Power site in Fort Wayne.

Austin G. Thompson and Kyle B. Hults, both 19, were each charged Wednesday with felony attempted theft and misdemeanor criminal trespassing.

Early on Aug. 9, Thompson and Hults went into an I&M yard and cut $5,630 worth of copper cable from a reel before they were caught, court documents said.

Hults, of the 7900 block of Harrisburg Lane, was in custody Wednesday at the Allen County Jail, with a bail of $3,250. Thompson, of the 400 block of Morris Street, was released after posting $3,250 bond.
