Cadets go Down Under

An assistant boys basketball coach and eight players from Concordia ventured to Australia in July to play in the Down Under Sports Basketball Tournament.

After learning a different set of rules, the team played nine games against teams from the United States and Australia on July 8-16 and went 8-1 to win the tournament championship.

The group went through 18 months of fundraising for the trip.

"This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the boys," Concordia assistant boys coach Tim Reinking said in a news release. "They worked hard and represented Concordia well. I am very proud of them."

The players were Mitchell Gotsch, Thomas Starks, Brian Gremaux, Jacob Reinking, John Kuker, Ryan Gross, Marq Rogers and Brandon Webb.
