Indiana police departments launch DWI blitz

Beginning today, Indiana State Police troopers and more than 250 other Indiana law enforcement agencies across the state are taking part in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown.

The state police announced Friday that the blitz to stop impaired and dangerous drivers continues through Sept. 3.

Through the Labor Day weekend, troopers will “work overtime to conduct high-visibility enforcement activities designed specifically to identify impaired drivers,” the state police said in a statement.

Aggressive drivers and unrestrained motorists will also be targeted during the “Blitz 72” period, the announcement said.
