Woman, 19, admits role in trashing area school

A 19-year-old woman admitted Friday to causing thousands of dollars in damage to Monroeville Elementary.

Kalie C. Keller, of the 1700 block of East Tillman Road, pleaded guilty in Allen Superior Court to criminal mischief. An additional charge of burglary will be dismissed at sentencing in September.

Along with Keller, Allen County prosecutors charged Ian Fifer, 20, Lance Wenger, 20, and John Hamrick, 19, with breaking into the school last fall. The group is accused of spray-painting the inside of the building, smashing electronics items, using fire extinguishers and destroying other school property, court papers said.

Damage was estimated at $11,400. The other court cases are pending.

The school closed at the end of the 2010-11 school year as part of East Allen County School’s redesign plan.
