A drive-by shooting Saturday night on Warsaw Street left a teen with a gunshot wound to his upper leg, Fort Wayne police said.
The boy and his friend were riding their bicycles south on Warsaw Street when a dark-colored car, also southbound, drove past, said police spokesman Jason Anthony.
Someone inside the car fired multiple shots, and one hit the boy. The car was last seen going south on Warsaw, Anthony said.
About 9:50 p.m., officers and medics were dispatched to the corner of Warsaw and Boltz streets. The boy, in his early teens and whose name was not released, was conscious and talking before he was taken to a hospital. He was in critical condition Sunday, Anthony said.
The shooting happened in front of the Warsaw Street Baptist Church, 2901 Warsaw St. As police investigated late Saturday, the victim’s bright orange dirt bike lay on the path to the church’s front entrance.
In the middle of Warsaw Street, five white markers flagged what appeared to shell casings. Anthony said neighbors reported hearing three to five shots.
As of Sunday, detectives had no suspects and did not know of a motive.
