Drug suspect admits federal gun charge

A Fort Wayne man pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court to carrying a firearm in connection with a drug trafficking crime.

In exchange for his guilty plea, federal prosecutors will not charge Michael C. Scott in connection with three instances of illegally providing guns to others and distributing cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana between 2008 and 2009, according to court documents.

In August 2011, a federal grand jury indicted Scott on four counts – the firearm charge and three counts of distributing psilocybin mushrooms. The additional charges will be dismissed.

He faces at least five years in prison when he is sentenced, court documents say.
