Springmann to contribute for Irish

Notre Dame defensive lineman Tony Springmann, a Bishop Dwenger graduate, didn't play as a freshman.

The 6-foot-6, 300-pound sophomore was limited during spring practice after have surgery to repair a bugling disc.

But Springmann is healthy, and coach Brian Kelly said he expects to use him this year.

"I think he is going to be on the field," Kelly said. "I think you are going to see a guy who can play two positions. He can play the nose. He can play the four-technique for us. He's done a nice job for us. He will be rolling out there. He will play some football for us."
