    On a chilly, overcast night, the Wayne boys track team won its first team title since 1996 Thursday at the Wayne Regional.The host Generals had 80 points to slip past runner-up Carroll’s 75.
  • Carroll wins softball sectional crown
    Carroll punched its ticket to the Class 4A softball regionals with a 5-1 victory over host DeKalb in the sectional championship game.

Bruins golfers edge Panthers

Northrop had no fifth player as a safety cushion. But the Bruins’ top four did enough to get a 190-196 golf victory over Snider.

Cassie Green led the Bruins with a 5-over 42 at Lakeside, while Stevie Luebbert added a 43. Megan LaFontaine had a 52.

Leading Snider was Madison Parks with a 44. Haley Mathias added a 49.

BISHOP DWENGER 184, LEO 213: Katie Giants’ 41 paced the Saints at Riverbend, while Julie Mueller added a 42.

Girls soccer

BISHOP DWENGER 4, BISHOP LUERS 2: Lexie Royal scored twice for the Saints at the Fort Wayne Sport Club. Luers freshman Lydia Brown made four saves, including one on a penalty kick.

Tennis

ANGOLA 4, EAST NOBLE 1: The Hornets’ Cam Hall defeated Evan Hart 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. The Knights’ No. 1 player, Matt Stallman, won an exhilarating match at home against Jake Stump. After losing the first set 6-0, he won 6-4 and 7-6 (7-4). The Knights were without singles player Nathan Manns (fractured collarbone).

NORWELL 5, SOUTH ADAMS 0: The Knights improved to 5-0, without dropping a set. Tanner Mathews defeated Brayden Myers 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles in Berne.

DEKALB 5, NORTHROP 0: The closest match at DeKalb came at No. 1 doubles, where Warren Travis and Connor Helmkamp downed Brian York and Mike Ankenbruck 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.
