Moped crash leaves Angola man critical

An Angola man was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital in critical condition after crashing his moped early Sunday.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department said officers were sent at 2:09 a.m. to U.S. 20 and Golden Lake Road, just west of Interstate 69, and found the accident victim, Levi Stetler, 26, injured in the road, several feet from a red moped. The police said he was not wearing a helmet and was riding west when he tried to turn left onto Golden Lake Road.

Observations made by the officers and preliminary test results done at the hospital indicate alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s department said. Certified test results are pending.

Stetler was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center
