Hoosier delegates are online

The Indiana Republican Party is offering a virtual visit to this week’s Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla.

The state GOP is posting photos, video and text diaries at HoosiersInTampa.com. The site will track the adventures of Indiana’s 46 delegates and 43 alternate delegates.

Early posts are what you would expect of any organization’s convention: accounts and pictures of parties, sightseeing, meals and bus rides.

The convention began Monday, but the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac has postponed speeches and other business until Tuesday.

Republican delegates representing northeast Indiana are former Allen County Councilwoman Paula Hughes of Fort Wayne; state Sen. Travis Holdman, R-Markle; and Wells County GOP Chairman Ralph Garcia. Alternates are Glenna Jehl and Christine Shrock of Fort Wayne and Phil Stoller of Wells County.

At-large delegates include Toby Buck, CEO of Paragon Medical in Pierceton. At-large alternates include Kyle Babcock of Fort Wayne and state Sen. Tom Wyss, R-Fort Wayne.

Another delegate is Fort Wayne native Susan Brooks, a resident of Carmel and the Republican candidate for the U.S. House in Indiana’s 5th District – although her biography at HoosiersInTampa.com fails to mention her candidacy.
