Air Force Airman Ryan J. Tharp graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
Tharp completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Tharp earned distinction as an honor graduate.
He is the son of William Tharp of Decatur, and is a 2004 graduate of Bellmont High School. Tharp earned a bachelor's degree in 2009 from Purdue University, West Lafayette.
