Purdue linebacker Dwayne Beckford was suspended from the team indefinitely following his arrest earlier Monday, coach Danny Hope announced in a news release.
"It's unfortunate that Dwayne allegedly violated some of the terms of his probationary status," Hope said. "Once we examine all the details that led to today's development, we will make a decision on his long-term status with the team."
The Lafayette Courier and Journal reported that Beckford has been charged with two counts of possession of paraphernalia and one count of possession of a synthetic drug in Tippecanoe Superior Court.
Beckford was second on the team with 91 tackles last season. He was suspended for the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl following an arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated Dec. 16.
