Fairfield Avenue closure delayed

FORT WAYNE – Plans to close a part of Fairfield Avenue for several days have been delayed a week, the city of Fort Wayne said today.

Because of equipment problems, the closure just south of Creighton Avenue has been rescheduled for Sept. 4 to 6, the city's Traffic Engineering Department said in a statement. It had been planned for Wednesday through Friday of this week.

Monroe Excavation Inc. is to put up a large crane in the street to lift materials to and from the roof of Fairfield Manor, the announcement said.

The official detour will use Creighton, Harrison Street and Pontiac Street.

Drivers are encouraged to use Barr, Main and Clinton streets. Access to the Citizens Square parking lot will be available from Barr and Clinton.

For more information or to report problems, call 427-1172.
