Driver airlifted after pickups crash

A rural Defiance County man was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital after a crash Wednesday morning near Hicksville, Ohio.

Dustin M. Vogelsong, 26, of the Sherwood area, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado west on Buckskin Road about 8:50 a.m. when a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 driven by Jan Zijlstra, 30, of the Antwerp area, on Lake Road failed to yield at a stop sign, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a written statement.

It said there were also several passengers involved, but only Vogelsong was seriously injured. His condition at the hospital was not immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation, the state patrol said.
