Bank seeks buyer for Marriott

Financial hardship forced the owner of the city’s first Marriott hotel to lose the lodge.

The Fort Wayne Marriott is no longer in the hands of Azar Inc. Wells Fargo filed foreclosure paperwork because the company wasn’t able to repay a $14 million loan awarded in 2005. Businessman George A. Azar is named in documents at Allen Superior Court.

GF Management is running the hotel, 305 E. Washington Center Road, while the bank attempts to find a buyer for the 219-room inn.
