Pinkett will not call Irish's game Saturday

Former Notre Dame running back Allen Pinkett will not be part of the IMB Notre Dame Radio Network's broadcast of the season opener against Navy on Saturday, the network announced.

Don Criqui and Jeff Jeffers will handle the broadcast duties, according to a written statement.

"Notre Dame taking on Navy at the Emerald Isle Classic inDublinis an historic game showcasing the very best of American college sports," Andrew Giangola, spokesman for IMG Notre Dame Radio Network, said in a statement. "The event deserves to be free of distraction. Further decisions on this matter will be made in the coming days."

Pinkett said in a radio interview with a Chicago station that Notre Dame needs criminals on the team to be successful.
