5 days of rain forecast

Hurricane Isaac's dregs could drop more than 7 inches of rain in some areas of Indiana, but forecasters say the rain will likely fall during a five-day period and not in a single deluge.

Northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio are expected to see 4 to 6 inches of rain. No severe weather is forecast for the region.

The National Weather Service said rain from the storm is expected to reach Indiana on Friday and linger through Tuesday.

More than 7 inches of rain are forecast for much of southern Indiana, and the western and central counties.

Weather Service meteorologist Brad Herold said the heaviest showers are expected Saturday night into Sunday.

He said Indiana's drought-lowered lakes and rivers, and parched soils, will likely absorb some of the downpours, but that flooding is possible.

The Associated Press contributed to this story.
