Robert Marve threw three touchdowns for Purdue in a 48-6 victory against Eastern Kentucky in front of 40,572 fans Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium.
Bishop Dwenger graduate Landon Feichter intercepted a pass and returned it 34 yards for a touchdown as the Boilermakers opened the season with a big victory.
Purdue quarterback Caleb TerBush was one of two players suspended for one game before the contest for a “violation of team rules.”
Marve got the starting nod. He threw an interception to end Purdue’s first series. He came back with a 4-yard touchdown to Gary Bush in the Boilermakers’ second possession.
Feichter caught a tipped pass and returned it 34 yards to make it 13-0.
Akeem Shavers and Kurt Freytag had rushing touchdowns as Purdue led 34-6 at halftime.
Marve threw his final touchdown in the third quarter.
Purdue is at Notre Dame on Sept. 8.
