And now, for those of you who are still paying attention to NASCAR ....
A momentous thing is about to happen.
What's about to happen is four-time champion Jeff Gordon, perennial contender Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards, who narrowly lost the Sprint Cup title to Tony Stewart last year, are in imminent peril of missing the Chase altogether.
Busch leads Gordon by just a dozen points, so any misstep and he's gone. Gordon pretty much needs a victory at Richmond this weekend or he's toast unless Busch missteps. And Edwards needs a win and he needs for both Busch and Gordon to have lousy weekends.
Busch seems likeliest to survive, but I can't think of any other year when three such prominent names went into the final weekend of the "regular season" in such imminent peril of missing the Chase. Truly a strange season.
