No foul play suspected in Bayer Ave. death

Police are investigating the death of a 62-year-old man at a home on the near-northeast side of Fort Wayne, and officials are now saying that the death does not appear to be suspicious.

An autopsy was performed Monday morning at the Northeast Indiana Forensic. The Allen County Coroner’s Office said the cause of the man’s death is pending and that the 62-year-old’s identity will be released after his next of kin has been notified.

The preliminary results said the cause and manner of death are pending, but that investigators do not believe foul play was involved.

Medics were sent about 1:50 p.m. Sunday to an apartment house in the 1500 block of Bayer Avenue, between Sallie and Tennessee avenues.

A neighbor, who lives in another apartment in the house, had gone to check on the man and found him dead, police said for a story in the print edition of The Journal Gazette.

The man lived alone, and as far as police know, he was last seen alive Friday afternoon.
