According to a broadcast report, Canterbury senior Austin Hatch has been granted another year of eligibility by the IHSAA and will play two more seasons for the Cavaliers before signing with the University of Michigan.
Hatch was involved in a plane crash that killed his father and stepmother in June 2011 and missed all of last season for Canterbury. He committed to the Wolverines just before the accident.
According to WANE-TV, Canterbury athletic director Ken Harkenrider wrote a letter to IHSAA commissioner Bobby Cox to get the extra year in high school.
Hatch is supposedly going to sign with Michigan in November 2013. Hatch has been rehabbing and working out after the accident to try to regain his strength, stamina and basketball skills.
