Hearing on IPFW at Statehouse today

The Select Commission on Education is scheduled to discuss the administrative oversight structure for IPFW and what its future might hold at a meeting 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Indiana Statehouse.

Purdue University currently oversees the campus in Fort Wayne, and questions have arisen about whether it should become independent, simply change its name and keep its current affiliations or switch to oversight by Indiana University.

Those on the agenda to speak include State Sen. Dennis Kruse; State Rep. Robert Morris; Tim Sands, acting president of Purdue University; Vicky Carwein, chancellor of IPFW; John Applegate, executive vice president for University Regional Affairs, Planning, and Policy at Indiana University; Andrew Downs, presiding officer of the Fort Wayne Senate at IPFW; Steve Sarratore, vice chancellor for Academic Affairs at IPFW; Anthony Mitson, director of Government Affairs at the Regional Chamber of Northeast Indiana; and Michael Wartell, chancellor emeritus at IPFW.

Public comment is scheduled afterward.
