Huntertown comment time closes
Keeping informed about Huntertowns proposed sewer plant has not been an easy task for town residents. And an error on the Indiana Department of Environmental Managements website isnt helping.
Residents concerned about the proposed sewage-treatment plant need to get their comments to IDEM as soon as possible. IDEM officials had said the public has until Sept. 10 to forward any comments about the sewer plant proposal as part of a public comment period. But the notice posted on the IDEM website says responses are due by Sept. 7 – Friday.
Huntertown Town Council leaders want to put an end to sending the towns sewage to Fort Wayne City Utilities for treatment and instead build a new $11.2 million sewage plant. Town leaders have done a shamefully bad job of keeping the public informed throughout the process.
Last month the state regulatory agency tentatively denied Huntertowns proposal. Huntertown officials as well as members of the public were given 30 days to submit comments.
Residents, including both those who oppose the plan and those who support it, should send written comments to IDEM. Mail comments to Steve Roush, IDEM Office of Water Quality /NPDES Permits Branch, 100 N. Senate Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46204-2251or email them to sroush@idem.in.gov.
Follow Hoosier Democrats online
Like Hoosier Republicans, Democrats from Indiana attending the partys national convention in Charlotte, N.C., have established a website to post photos and offer information.
TheIndianadelegation.com on Tuesday included a photo of Mayor Tom Henry and his wife, Cindy.
Other members of the Indiana delegation include the 3rd District Chairwoman, Carmen Darland, plus Allen County Chairman John Court and former county chairmen Randy Schmidt and Mike Bynum.
