Two Fort Wayne restaurants shut their doors

Two restaurants in Fort Wayne have recently shut their doors.

A reader emailed me today to share that Salay's on St. Joe Center Road appeared closed.

Indeed, no one answers the restaurant's phone number. There is paper covering the door and windows, and the large sign has been taken down from the side of the building. The outdoor eating area is empty. The Facebook page has been removed.

The restaurant, which was recently Moosewood BBQ, had been open about a year. Its website hadn't even been updated when the new owners took over; it still reads "New Website Coming Soon!"

Another reader called today to share that BJ's Fish & Chips on East Pontiac Street had appeared closed.

A handwritten sign on the building reads "Going out of business, thank you." The restaurant's phone number is no longer in service.

BJ's opened in the summer of 2011
