Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie joined the Lugnuts as part of a rehab assignment. He will lead off for Lansing. He is hitting .282 with nine home runs and 40 RBI for Toronto.
He suffered a strained oblique at Oakland on Aug. 3.
Justin Nicolino is the starting pitcher for Lansing. He is 10-4 with 2.46 ERA. He is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA this season. He struck out 15 and has allowed three runs against Fort Wayne.
The winner of this series will face either Lake County or Bowling Green in the Eastern Division final. If Lake County advances, Game 1 will be at Fort Wayne/Lansing and Games 2 and 3 will be at Lake County. If Bowling Green wins, the Captains will be home for Game 1. Games 2 and 3 will be at Fort Wayne/Lansing.
Lake County leads the series against Bowling Green, 1-0.
