Verbatim: City storm cleanup update

The City of Fort Wayne issued this news release this afternoon:

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne would like to thank residents for their hard work in cleaning up their properties following the severe storms that hit the City on June 29.

Curbside pickup was completed last week, and the City will begin efforts to expedite the removal of debris that remains on private property.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 24, Neighborhood Code Enforcement will begin providing notices to owners whose properties still contain debris. If debris is not removed upon expiration of a 10-day notice, a Neighborhood Code Enforcement contractor will remove the debris and the property owner will be billed for the work.

Residents may take storm debris to the City’s Biosolids Facility, 6210 Lake Ave. The facility is open Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from noon-6 p.m. A small fee is collected based on the weight of the debris being dropped off.
