Ohio man gets prison in fatal wrong-way crash

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — A judge has sentenced a northwest Ohio man to eight years in prison for causing a wrong-way crash that killed a passenger in another car last year.

The (Toledo) Blade reports that Christopher Jones drove the wrong way on Interstate 75 in Toledo last October. A collision with another car killed 37-year-old Matthew Davis and injured four others.

A Lucas County Common Pleas judge sentenced the 35-year-old Jones to the maximum sentence Thursday. The Perrysburg man had pleaded no-contest to charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.

Jones' attorney noted that there were no illegal drugs or alcohol in his system, only therapeutic levels of a drug prescribed for bipolar disorder.

Jones apologized to the victim's family in court.
