East Noble wins NHC golf event

– Katie Sharp shot a 1-over 71 on her home course of Noble Hawk Golf Links in Kendallville, easily getting medalist honors at the NHC Tournament.

The second-place finisher, Alyssa Fanning of Carroll, was 12 strokes back Saturday.

East Noble won the team championship with a 358, seven strokes better than DeKalb.

Sharp had four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.

Teammate Logan Handshoe posted a 92 and Alyn Clark had a 95. Cooper Handshoe had a 100.

DeKalb took second in the team event with a 365, led by 85s from Kristen Konieczki and Katie Skidmore.

Girls soccer

SNIDER 1, BISHOP LUERS 0: Mckenzie Kell’s goal in the second half on the road won it.

Boys soccer

BISHOP DWENGER 6, WAYNE 0: John Pollifrone had two goals on the road.

HUNTINGTON NORTH 7, ANDERSON 2: Isaac Wust had three goals and an assist at home.

CANTERBURY 2, AVON 0: Reece Buckmaster and Britt Watts scored at home.

Boys tennis

WARSAW TOURNAMENT: Park Tudor won with 28 points, but Canterbury was second with 18.

The Cavaliers were led by Davis Huber, who defeated Kyle Wettschurack of Warsaw 6-2, 6-0 for fifth place in No. 1 singles. The Cavaliers’ Tom Filus took first at No. 3 singles, beating Pete Dakich of Park Tudor 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (10-7).
