Friday is count day at Indiana schools. Thats the day school officials report average daily membership to the Indiana Department of Education for funding purposes.
A second academic-year count day is set for Feb. 15, the result of legislation establishing multiple count dates and terminating the current school funding formula effective July 1, 2013.
Legislators plan to compare numbers from this week and next February to consider how and when to adjust funding.
Enrollment information will give a better indication of how many students have been lost to charter and voucher schools.
