CBS will push back the listed start times for its programs 30 minutes on Sunday nights when there is a doubleheader of NFL programming in the afternoon, the network said Tuesday.

In the past, NFL games have often pushed start times back without warning on similar Sunday nights. The NFL had previously announced a plan to delay the kickoff time of late-afternoon games by 10 minutes, to 4:25 p.m., which creates an even greater overrun into prime time.

The doubleheader Sundays affected are Sept. 16 and 23, Oct. 7 and 21, Nov. 4 and 18, and Dec. 2, 16 and 30. On those nights, prime-time programming will not be slated to begin until 7:30 p.m. with “60 Minutes” in the Eastern and Central time zones.

The network is also upgrading its “Eye-lert” system, which will allow users to sign up for text messages, emails and social media alerts about delays.

Ralph Lauren backs PBS’ ‘Masterpiece’

PBS’ “Masterpiece” drama showcase is getting a fashionable new supporter.

The public TV program said Monday that the Ralph Lauren Corp. will become a national sponsor, marking the company’s first TV sponsorship.

“Masterpiece” executive producer Rebecca Eaton called Lauren’s support a tribute to the program.

During last February’s New York Fashion Week, Lauren presented his fall 2012 collection to music from “Downton Abbey.”

Hologram-maker seeks Chapter 11

Less than a year after going public, the digital production company founded by director James Cameron has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and agreed to sell the core of its business to a private investment firm.

Digital Domain Media Group Inc. has produced visual effects for more than 90 movies. And in April, its Tupac Shakur hologram made a splash at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Sequel has shot at Booker prize

British writer Hilary Mantel is a finalist for the prestigious Booker literary prize for “Bring Up the Bodies,” a tale of politics and passion at the court of King Henry VIII.

The book is a sequel to “Wolf Hall,” which won the $82,000 prize in 2009.

The prize is open to writers from Britain, Ireland and the Commonwealth. The short list announced by judges Tuesday includes “The Garden of Evening Mists” by Malaysia’s Tan Twan Eng and “Narcopolis” by India’s Jeet Thayil.

Three books by British writers round out the list – “Swimming Home,” by Deborah Levy; Alison Moore’s “The Lighthouse”; and “Umbrella” by Will Self.

The winner will be announced Oct. 16.
