Ryan Lochte is among the Latino U.S. Olympians to be honored at this year’s ALMA Awards.

Eva Longoria and George Lopez are returning for the third time as co-hosts of this month’s awards, which celebrate Latino achievements in music, television and film. The announcement was made Tuesday.

A salute to Olympic medalists from the London Games will honor swimmer Lochte, whose mother is Cuban-born. Also attending will be water polo champions Brenda Villa and Jessica Steffens, gymnast Danell Leyva and runner Leonel Manzano.

Pop star Christina Aguilera will receive a special achievement award for her career and philanthropic work.

Rosario Dawson, Zoe Saldana and Natalie Morales will be among the presenters for the ceremony airing Sept. 21 on NBC.

Presenters tapped

Seven-time nominee Louis C.K. and Ricky Gervais, creator of “The Office,” are among the stars who will be handing out this year’s prime-time Emmys.

Producers of the awards show made their first announcement Tuesday of Emmy presenters.

Others will include Ginnifer Goodwin, star of ABC’s “Once Upon a Time,” and Mindy Kaling, star and creator of the upcoming Fox comedy “The Mindy Project.”

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sept. 23.

VMA ratings tumble

What a difference a year makes for MTV’s “Video Music Awards” – and not in a good way.

MTV’s annual big event was seen by 6.1 million viewers last week. Nielsen, a company that measures media consumption, says that’s less than half of the 12.4 million who watched in 2011. That was believed to be MTV’s most-watched program ever.

The awards show started about an hour earlier than it usually does to avoid conflicting with President Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention.
