3 accused in theft from Williams County Fair

A 24-year-old man and two 15-year-olds are accused of taking items from a merchant's tent at the Williams County Fair.

A Montpelier police officer saw three people carrying items in a downtown alley at 4:17 a.m. Tuesday, according to a written statement issued by the Williams County Sheriff's Office.

Two got away initially and a third was taken into custody. Items worth $341.57 found at the scene were identified as being taken from a tent at the fairgrounds.

The 24-year-old was charged with breaking and entering, and the sheriff's department said the two boys were questioned and will be referred to the county prosecutor's office for charges.
