BROWNSBURG, Ind. – Authorities say the source of the hacking of a suburban Indianapolis school district’s website is from Iraq.

Police said the hacking of the website posed no safety threat to the Brownsburg Community Schools district just west of Indianapolis.

Brownsburg police Detective Jennifer Pyatt-Barrett said during a Thursday news conference that the hacking was a “low-level intrusion” and the hacker targeted the software running the district’s website not the district itself.

The district’s home page was taken down Wednesday after the hacker replaced it with a message claiming to be from “All Muslims of the World” and that “Coming, soon you will hear voices of our swords.”

School officials said absences were up slightly Thursday in the 7,600-student district.
