Midwest League championship series: Report after three innings

Fort Wayne leads Wisconsin 3-1 after three innings in Game 3 of the Midwest League championship series Saturday at Parkview Field.

Fort Wayne scored in the first inning. Jace Peterson walked. Tyler Stubblefield then doubled to right field. Peterson scored, giving the TinCaps the 1-0 lead.

Wisconsin tied the game with a run in the third inning. The Timber Rattlers placed runners on first and third with two outs. Chadwin Stang hit a grounder back to the mound. Pitcher Frank Garces couldn't field it cleanly. Adrian Williams scored on the infield hit.

Fort Wayne regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

Stubblefield doubled with one out. Travis Whitmore then hit a grounder back to the mound. Wisconsin got Stubblefield in a rundown, but he avoided a tag at third base. Whitmore moved to second on the fielder's choice.

Yeison Asencio then hit a triple down the right-field line. Stubblefield and Whitmore scored, making it 3-1.
