The TinCaps will host their third Stitch ’n Pitch event next month, but this time they’re encouraging needle artists to contribute to a breast cancer awareness scarf that is more than a mile long and growing – and will be displayed in Fort WayneHomestead, North Side and Norwell won their respective classes in a marching band contest Saturday in DeKalb County.
Those schools and others competed in the DeKalb Invitational at DeKalb High School in Waterloo.
According to Indianamarching.com, in Class A, Homestead was first, Carroll was second, Snider was third, Northrop was fourth and Warsaw was fifth. Homestead won caption awards in music, visual and general effect.
In Class B, North Side was first, Greenfield Central was second, East Noble was third, Columbia City was fourth, Bishop Dwenger was fifth and New Haven was sixth.
North Side won caption awards for music and general effect.
In Class C, Norwell was first, Concordia was second, NorthWood was third, Leo and Woodlan tied for fourth and Garrett was sixth.
Norwell won caption awards for music and visual, and Concordia and Norwell tied for general effect.
In Class D, Adams Central was first, Bluffton was second, Eastside was third and Hicksville was fourth.

Bluffton and Eastside tied for visual effect.
In the Tournament of Champions at Kokomo High School, Huntington North was first in Class A and won caption awards for music, visual and general effect.
In the Spirit of Central Invitational at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, Angola was second in class C and won a caption award for music.
