Sled Hockey Challenge set

There will be a Sled Hockey Challenge at Lutheran Health SportsCenter on Saturday, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., to benefit next year's Bob Chase Frostbite Sled Hockey Tournament.

Saturday's events will include a Celebrity All-Star Game and 3-on-3 games against the Turnstone Flyers, who are hosting the event.

Sled hockey allows those with physical disabilities to play hockey by sitting in a sled and propelling themselves with two specially designed sticks.

One aspect of the game is that able-bodied people can compete on an equal level with those who are disabled.

There will be no charge to attend the event Saturday, but donations will be accepted to benefit the fifth Frostbite Tournament, which will be Feb. 9 and 10.

Among those playing in the celebrity game will be the Mad Ants’ Ron Howard, councilmen Mitch Harper and Russ Jehl and local media personalities.

Those interested in registering themselves or a team should contact Chuck at 260-615-4652 or
