Homestead overcomes 3-1 deficit, beats Carroll

Homestead scored three goals in the second half and held Carroll scoreless to claim a 4-3 girls soccer victory Monday at Carroll.

Trailing 3-1 at halftime, the Spartans (11-1-1, 5-1 NHC) got goals in the second period from two-time All-NHC forward Kelsey Wendlandt, Ari Nelson and Morgann Williams.

Madison Kloster provided Homestead’s only goal in the first half, when the Chargers (10-2-1, 5-1) got two goals from Toro Minnich and one from Amber Hoot.

Homestead had a dozen shots on goal at goalkeeper Taylor Depoy.

Boys soccer

DEKALB 8, NORWELL 0: Brennan Cochran’s three goals powered host DeKalb (8-2, 5-1 NHC).

GARRETT 2, PRAIRIE HEIGHTS 0: Karsten Cooper’s two goals paced visiting Garrett.

Girls soccer

COLUMBIA CITY 1, EAST NOBLE 0: Haley Boner scored the goal and Adrianna Brown had 10 saves for visiting Columbia City.

DEKALB 4, NORWELL 0: Andrea Oster’s two goals led the visiting Barons.

SNIDER 2, WARSAW 1: Meredith Shipman’s second-half goal led visiting Snider.


BELLMONT 3, BISHOP LUERS 0: Audrey Schultz had 10 kills and Janaya Wilder had four aces as host Bellmont (15-3) won 25-12, 25-16, 25-11.

LEO 3, SNIDER 1: Host Leo (14-2) came back to win the fourth set 25-19 to top Snider. The Lions won the first two 26-24 and 25-16, while Snider won the third, 25-22.

HUNTINGTON NORTH 3, SOUTH SIDE 0: Alexis Wygant had 10 kills in Huntington North’s win at South.

ADAMS CENTRAL 4, BLUFFTON 1: Host Adams Central won the ACAC title for the third time in four years with its win. No. 1 singles Nathan Barger won 6-0, 6-0.

BISHOP DWENGER 4, LEO 1: The host Saints had little trouble, taking the four matches in straight sets.

FREMONT 5, PRAIRIE HEIGHTS 0: Fremont won three matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

NORTH SIDE 3, CHURUBUSCO 2: Visiting North Side’s No. 1 doubles team rallied from a set down to win the next two, 6-1, 6-0.
