Judge dismisses gaming lawsuit

A federal judge granted a request to dismiss a lawsuit challenging Indiana’s enforcement of a prohibition against Internet sweepstakes machines.

Filed this year by Buckwheat Holdings, LLC, which owned Lincoln Plaza Internet Sensations, the civil lawsuit came amid a criminal case filed against the company’s officials.

Lincoln Plaza Internet Sensations offered sweepstakes-type machines, which had been classified as illegal “electronic gaming devices.”

Though they contested the legality of the raids that seized the machines initially, company officials pleaded guilty this summer to charges related to professional gambling and admitted they knew the machines were electronic gaming devices.
